Aro Muric says he has full confidence in the team ahead of a big three final games of the 2023/24 season.
First up it's Eddie Howe's Newcastle on Saturday and the 25-year-old is looking forward to the challenge and says that with belief within the group high, anything is possible.
“I’m very excited for the next three games, we go all in. I think we’ve got a good chance; we showed it the last few games. So, let’s see.
“The belief is very big because we never stop believing. You can see it; you wouldn’t see the results we’ve had the last few games without it. And we now believe even more, so we’ll go all in and try to make the best out of it.”
In his press conference on Thursday Manager Vincent Kompany said the remaining games are 'as big an opportunity as you get', relishing the chance, Muric is also full of praise for his supportive leader.
“It’s his style of play so we all adapt to it, and I think we do it really well. It’s really important for the way we play and of course he’s a great manager.”
The manager is very relaxed on camera, is he that way when the cameras are off?
“Yes, he is. He’s very calm, after every game he tries to help us, like where we can improve. He’s always looking to improve, and improve, and improve. He never loses his nerve.
“It helps a lot. After we had lost, every time he pushed us, he motivated us to keep going, keep going. I think that’s a big thing, that we kept on going to be fair. At training, the levels never dropped, it’s just got better and better.
“I mean you can see from the past games, he believed we were going to get the results and I think you can only get better.”
The Clarets have been on a positive run, with just one defeat in the last eight games. Has Muric been surprised by the uplift?
“No for me I played eight games so I think I can only talk about me, when I got into the team. I believed that we could do it and we could take results, so it doesn’t surprise me because I give everything for myself and for the team always. The team just kept on playing like they do so it didn’t surprise me.
“I’m very happy that I could help the team and the team helps me. We are a team. I’m very positive about it.”
Last time out Kompany's men claimed a well earned point against Manchester United and the keeper felt it could have been three from the positive showing.
“I think we could have even won at Old Trafford. We had so many chances, we created so many chances. I don’t think they were the better team there.
“We didn’t get nervous about playing there, we were motivated like every other game, it was no different. Of course, we were happy to get the equaliser, but I think we were even looking for the winner.”
With three big games to go, two of which are at Turf Moor, how's his mindset heading into an important three week period?
“Every game, like I said before we went to Old Trafford, we performed so I think the next game will be no different. We will get there and try to take the three points. Anything less, it wouldn’t disappoint us, and it wouldn’t make us give up. We’ll still believe in it until the last moment, until it’s done.
“Newcastle are a good team, everyone knows. Tough team to play. But everything is possible at Turf Moor, so I think we’ll be fine.”
Coming across as a cool, calm and collected character, does he thrive under pressure?
“It’s a positive pressure. I like this kind of pressure so for me it’s like we’ve got nothing to lose, we’ve only got something to win. So, we get there and try to take everything we can.”
How much of an advantage is two of the final games being home fixtures and just how much will it help having a noisy Turf Moor behind the squad?
“Of course, being at home always helps us. We’ve got the fans and I think they’ve been great supporting us. It’s even more motivating for us.
“We know the pitch; I think it’s a big help for us Turf Moor.
“We’ll get there once more and try to take the win for the fans and for the team.”
