Midfielder Miller becomes second signing of 2023

Burnley FC Women are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Lara Miller from Women’s Championship outfit Sheffield United.

Miller, 20, is an England youth international having represented the Young Lionesses at both U17 & U18 levels, and started out in the academy at Manchester United.

Switching red for blue with a move to Manchester City, she would win the FA Girls’ Youth Cup before heading back to United for a further two seasons as her development continued.

And eventually making the move into senior football with Lewes down on the South Coast at the start of the 2021/22 season, Miller – who primarily plays in a deeper role – re-located back up north when she joined Sheffield United in January 2022.

Impressing in the second half of the campaign, the Blades got her signed on the dotted line ahead of the current season, and Miller now joins Jonathan Morgan’s side here in East Lancashire.

The midfielder spoke to the Club’s media having become a Claret, discussing just how happy she is to be on board, saying: “I’m excited to have joined Burnley and to be able to learn from the experience of both Jonathan and Jay [Bradford, Assistant Coach].

“I know it’s a Club with big ambitions and heart, and that’s what I wanted to come and be a part of.

“It’s a great group and the girls have already made it feel like home. I’m looking forward to helping the team build on what has been a positive first half of the season.”

Boss Morgan added, “Lara is an exciting young player that comes with lots of pedigree.

“She has settled in well and has trained hard with us. We’ve all been impressed with what she has shown and we’re excited to get her some game time.”

Miller will be eligible to make her debut this Sunday away against Loughborough Lightning (2pm KO).
