Midfielder signs one-year deal

Adam McCoy has formally signed his first professional contract, which will run until the summer of 2026.

The midfielder has been with the Clarets since U15s level and recently completed his two-year scholarship with Tony Philliskirk’s U18s side.

After agreeing his new terms, he said: “It’s an amazing moment and a big milestone in my career.

“The Club encourages young players through to the first team and it’s a great environment to be a part of.

“It was good to get back with the U21s last season and I can’t wait for the new season to start.

“The opposition will be harder in PL2, but I enjoy a challenge, so we’ll see how it goes!”

McCoy joined Burnley from Manchester United and was able to feature for the U18s before starting his scholarship in the summer of 2023.

A stress fracture injury to his back kept him on the sidelines for around nine months, but the Liverpudlian returned to fitness in September 2024.

Since then, he featured regularly as the U18s won the Professional Development League North title, and towards the end of the campaign he was afforded opportunities with Andy Farrell’s U21s.

Academy Manager Chris Casper added: “We’re pleased to be keeping Adam here for the upcoming season.

“His scholarship was affected by injuries but we know the qualities he possesses, and with hard work and good coaching we’re confident he can continue to improve.”
