Burnley defender Maxime Estève has been named in the 2024/25 PFA Championship Team of the Year, following an outstanding campaign at the heart of the Clarets' back line.
The 23-year-old Frenchman, who initially joined the club on loan from Montpellier in January of 2024 before signing a long-term deal with the Clarets, played a pivotal role in Burnley’s return to the Premier League.
Calm on the ball and commanding off it, Estève’s presence brought consistency and composure to the Clarets’ defence during a crucial campaign.
Estève featured in 46 league matches during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring once and playing a key role in a defence that matched the Football League record of 30 clean sheets in a single season and shattered the league record for goals conceded with only 16.
His consistency, composure, and leadership at the back were instrumental to Burnley’s success, earning him widespread recognition and firmly establishing him as a fan favourite at Turf Moor.

The PFA Championship Team of the Year is voted for by fellow professionals, making Estève’s selection a reflection of the respect he has earned from teammates and opponents alike.
Speaking about the honour, Estève said: “It means a lot to be recognised like this, especially by players you face every week. I felt welcome the moment I arrived at Burnley and I’m proud to have helped the team get back to where it belongs. Last season was special for all of us, now we want to keep building.”
Everyone at the club congratulates Maxime on this deserved recognition and looks forward to seeing him continue his development in the Premier League this season.
