Burnley suffered their first defeat of the 2026/27 campaign on Sunday afternoon, as the Clarets were beaten 3-1 by West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
Nicky Hayen's side took an 8th minute lead through Callum Styles' own goal, before levelling shortly after through Harry Whitwell's strike.
The Baggies were then ahead just a minute into the second-half thanks to Isaac Price's effort from outside the area, with the Northern Ireland winger then slotting home his second of the afternoon from the penalty spot to seal the three points for the hosts.
The Clarets boss made two changes to the side that played last weekend against West Ham, as Josh Laurent came into midfield for Ugo Raghouber, and Armando Broja replaced the injured Zian Flemming in attack.
The first opportunity of the game came in the 5th minute, as Whitwell laid it off for Price, but the Baggies forward could only fire into the hands of Max Weiss.
However, just two minutes later, the Clarets did have their opener through an own goal.
After some excellent footwork from Marcus Edwards, he threaded it out wide for Jacob Bruun Larsen, who broke down the left, before zipping a cross into the area, which was turned home by Albion defender Styles in an attempted clearance.
That lead lasted less than 10 minutes though, as the Baggies then pulled the scores level through Whitwell, who struck it into the bottom corner from just inside the box, after being teed up by Jimmy-Jay Morgan.
Following the two early goals, chances for both sides were fairly limited, until Laurent was forced to make a crucial last-ditch block to deny Price from firing home following a smart Albion counter-attack.
With half-time approaching, the Clarets then created a couple of chances to grab a second goal.
First, Bruun Larsen saw his effort trickle inches wide of the post following Edwards’ ball into the area, before the Danish winger then turned provider and teed up Ramsey with an outrageous piece of skill, but the midfielder’s strike also fizzed narrowly wide of the post.
Despite Burnley finishing the half on top and coming close to adding to their tally, the two sides went into the break level.
Following his half-time team talk, Hayen made a half-time change, with Connor Roberts replacing Oliver Sonne at right-back.
However, it was the Baggies who came out on the front foot and took the lead within a minute of the second-half, as Price curled it home into the far corner out of reach of Weiss to put the hosts ahead.
With the visitors still trailing as the hour mark approached, Hayen made a triple change, with Zeki Amdouni, Ugo Raghouber and Dastan Satpayev all coming on for Laurent, Hannibal and Broja.
As the Clarets looked for an equaliser and a way back into it, it was the Albion who struck again, this time from a Price penalty, after Humphreys had collided with Whitwell inside the area.
Despite efforts from the visitors to get back into the game and pull a goal back, the stubborn Baggies defence stood strong to ensure the home side claimed the win.
