Head Coach Scott Parker and his side got off to a dream start on Monday night as the Clarets secured an impressive 4-1 win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road in the opening fixture of the 2024/25 campaign.
Josh Brownhill opened the scoring for Burnley with just six minutes on the clock after latching onto Clarets debutant Lucas Pires' through ball, before doubling the lead half-an-hour later through Wilson Odobert's calm and collected finish.
Luton did pull a goal back just before the hour mark through Tahith Chong, but Burnley responded well as Dara O'Shea glanced home a header into the bottom corner to double the lead once again with 20 minutes to play.
There was time for a fourth of the night when Vitinho struck home the final goal of the game with an excellent finish past Thomas Kaminski.

After an even start on a scorching evening in Bedfordshire, the Clarets got their opener with just six minutes played.
Debutant Pires slid a perfectly timed through ball into the path of Brownhill, who broke through the Town defence and guided the ball under the body of Kaminski to give the Clarets the lead.
The hosts pushed for a way back into it and applied a little bit of pressure with a couple of set pieces, but nothing to worry the Burnley defence.
Burnley tried to carve open another opportunity with half-an-hour played, as Roberts picked out Vitinho racing in behind Doughty and the Brazilian did well to pick out Brownhill inside the area before the ball was just nicked away from his feet.

With less than 10 minutes until the break, the Clarets did have their second as Roberts curled a lovely ball round the Hatters backline, which Odobert latched onto and coolly finished into the back of the net to double the advantage.
The Hatters came out on the front foot in the second half and had half a chance when Adebayo crashed a header off the crossbar before Trafford gathered the danger.
Burnley did respond to that opportunity when Odobert was slipped inside the area, but Kaminski was equal to it.
Moments later Kaminski was forced into action again, as O’Shea rifled a curled effort towards goal from a corner, but the Belgian made a fine stop to deny the defender.

Against the run of play, Luton then halved the deficit as Doughty cushioned a header down into the path of Chong to turn home past Trafford from close range.
With the momentum behind the home side and pushing for an equaliser, Burnley then added a third of the night with 72 minutes on the clock when O'Shea fired home a header into the bottom corner past a stranded Kaminski.
The Clarets nearly had a fourth three minutes later when Vitinho unleashed a fierce strike from outside the area which fizzed just wide of the target.
With 10 minutes left to play, the visitors did have a fourth as Foster drove through the heart of midfield before picking out Vitinho, who raced into the box and finished in front of the Clarets faithful.
It was a great opening night for Parker and the Clarets with all three points sealed in fine fashion with Burnley now turning their attention to Saturday’s meeting with Cardiff City.
