Burnley's unbeaten Sky Bet Championship run was extended to seven matches on Tuesday night, as the Clarets were held to a goalless draw against Derby County at Turf Moor.

There were plenty of chances throughout the dominant display from the home side to win the game, but Burnley just couldn't quite find a way through past the Rams.

Boss Scott Parker made three changes from the side that played last Friday, with Josh Laurent, Zian Flemming and Lucas Pires coming into the starting XI for Luca Koleosho, Jay Rodriguez and John Egan.

There was also a place on the bench for youngster Tommy McDermott, as midfielder Hannibal missed out through suspension following his fifth booking of the campaign last weekend.

Burnley started bright and had plenty of possession in the opening 10 minutes, with Josh Brownhill seeing his curling effort from outside the area pushed wide for a corner by Zetterstrom.

The Clarets had another effort on target shortly after when Jeremy Sarmiento saw his first-time volley caught by the Rams' keeper.

Sarmiento was looking unstoppable and causing the Derby defence all sorts of problems, after leaving County skipper Eiran Cashin behind, before seeing his effort on goal deflected wide.

With just over 10 minutes left of the first-half, a penalty shout for the Clarets was waved away by referee Andy Davies, after Brownhill saw his goal-bound strike blocked by the hand of Nat Phillips and out for a corner.

Despite Burnley dominating the first-half with 60% possession and having eight attempts towards goal, the two sides went into the break goalless.

Following a cagey start to the second-half, the first opportunity fell to Derby, as Liam Thompson slipped in Jerry Yates with a well-timed through ball, but James Trafford was there to rush out and deny the former Blackpool striker with a fine stop.

With just under half-an-hour left on the clock, Parker made his first change of the night as Flemming made way for Rodriguez, as the hosts look to capitalise on the pressure.

Koleosho was then introduced a few minutes later, with Burnley dominating but narrowly missing out in the final third.

The young forward was straight into the action, after latching onto Brownhill’s through ball and forcing Zetterstrom to push it away.

Sarmiento then saw his powerful header denied by the hands of the County goalkeeper, who was forced into action all night for the visitors.

Although Parker's men pushed and pushed for a late winning goal, it just wasn't to be for the hosts, who also secured their 13th clean sheet of the campaign.

The Clarets now turn their attention to Sunday's trip to Norwich City, tickets for the visit to Carrow Road are still on sale here.
