Burnley continued their impressive defensive record and extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches on Monday night following a goalless draw with Leeds United.

Neither side could find a way through in the cagey encounter, which saw the Clarets secure a 20th clean sheet of the 2024/25 campaign.

Scott Parker named just the one change from the side that defeated Plymouth 5-0 last Wednesday, with Bashir Humphreys coming into the XI for Lucas Pires.

There was an early opportunity for the Clarets when Jaidon Anthony, the former Leeds loanee, worked his way into the area and picked out Zian Flemming, only for the forward to guide it just wide of the target.

Dan James then carved open a chance of his own just before the midway mark of the first-half, as the Wales international played a quick one-two with Jayden Bogle, but saw his effort from inside the area fizz wide of James Trafford’s goal.

Chances were minimal for both sides in the opening half an hour on a crisp evening in Lancashire, as both teams looked to try and break the deadlock.

Despite efforts from Burnley and Leeds to snatch a first-half opener, neither side could gather a shot on target, in what was an even opening 45 minutes.

The second-half started in similar vain, with both teams unable to carve open any chances on goal, forcing both managers to turn to their respective benches with 20 minutes left.

Jeremy Sarmiento replaced Lyle Foster for the Clarets, with Mateo Joseph and Largie Ramazani replacing Manor Solomon and Joel Piroe.

The first and only shot on target of the night in a tight contest came in the 89th minute, when Dan James unleashed an effort from outside the area, but James Trafford was equal to it to ensure the points were shared.
