Clarets head to Spurs for Premier League season opener

Burnley kick off their 2025/26 Premier League campaign on Saturday afternoon, as Scott Parkers men take on Tottenham Hotspur in London.

The Clarets head to the capital backed by a sold-out away following and will be aiming to kick off the new season with three points in North London.

Parker's side, who are back in the top-flight following a record-breaking promotion season last year, have the task of taking on the UEFA Europa League champions in their opening league fixture, before returning to Turf Moor next week.

There could also be a number of Burnley debuts on Saturday, with all of the Clarets' summer signings in contention to play a part at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

How to watch

Tickets for the trip to Spurs are all sold out and unavailable to purchase online or at the ticket office.

The game will not be streamed on Clarets+ due to Premier League rules and regulations and is not available on Sky Sports or TNT Sports.

The opposition

Tottenham head into the upcoming campaign as UEFA Europa League Champions, after lifting the trophy in Bilbao in May following a historic win over Manchester United.

Despite winning a first trophy in 17 years, Spurs dismissed manager Ange Postecoglou in June and appointed Thomas Frank shortly after, with the Danish coach making the short move over London from Brentford.

It will be another season of transition for Spurs, with Frank becoming the fifth manager of the club in the last four years.

There has also been a flurry of new arrivals for the Lilywhites, with Mohammed Kudus, Joao Palhinha and Luka Vuskovic all joining the club, with last season's loans of Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel being made permanent.

Frank's men head into this weekend's opener off the back of a dramatic penalty shoot-out defeat to PSG on Wednesday night, despite leading 2-0 with six minutes left, the UEFA Champions League winners came from behind to claw two goals back and eventually win on penalties.

"It's a brilliant first game for us, we're looking forward to this. We're looking forward to starting the season and it's a great one for us to test ourselves, which we're excited about it.

“As always, we understand the challenges. It's like anything, we can't sit here and say it any other way.

"The challenges for teams coming up in this division are big and over the last couple of years it's well documented that those challenges have been proven to be very demanding and have ultimately ended in relegation.

“But these are the challenges that we worked tirelessly for last year. I felt we built something in this group and we built something in this football club that fundamentally is a bedrock for us that can put us in a really strong position. We're excited about this challenge.

“We had challenges last year. I've had challenges many a time during my journey as a coach and this is a challenge that we're absolutely relishing this year.

“We're going to go and give our best version of ourselves while also taking the massive parts of last year, that gave us big success and hopefully bring that into this year.”
