Clarets head to Derby to take on the Rams

Burnley continue their Sky Bet Championship campaign on Tuesday night, as the Clarets travel to Pride Park to take on Derby County.

Scott Parker's men head to Derby 27 consecutive games unbeaten in the Championship and victory for the visitors would see Burnley remain top of the table.

The win at Coventry at the weekend saw the Clarets move to top spot, two points clear of third and three points on Tuesday night against the Rams would see Parker's side stay there prior to Friday's clash with Norwich City.

County suffered a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City last time out and currently sit just outside the relegation zone on goal difference, with everything to play for at Pride Park.

The opposition

Two-time winners of England's top-flight in 1972 and 1975, Derby are yet to return to the first tier of English Football since their relegation in 2008.

However, across their history the Rams have only spent a total of six seasons outside the top two leagues, with two of those campaigns coming in the last two years.

After returning to the Championship in 2008, County went on to spend 14 consecutive seasons in the second tier, before dropping to League One in 2021/22, for the first time since 2003.

Derby failed to bounce back at the first attempt after missing out on the play-offs, but the Rams secured promotion back to the Championship last year at the second time of asking with a 2nd place finish.

Following their return to the second tier, County started the 2024/25 season brightly and won three of their opening five league games, but now find themselves just outside of the relegation zone on goal difference under the guidance of Josh Eustace.
