Defender previews Adobe Women’s FA Cup tie

Georgia Marshall is looking forward to the ‘exciting’ challenge of taking on Nottingham Forest at the City Ground tomorrow evening.

The Clarets travel to the Midlands for their re-arranged Adobe Women’s FA Cup third round tie following a mini fixture break over the festive period.

“Christmas and new year were really good – it was nice to get a bit of a rest from football,” Marshall said.

“We were in a couple of times too alongside a home exercise programme, and it was good to re-group. The mood amongst the team is positive.

“We’re excited for a good game and challenge in a great stadium. We want to beat them having come so close last time, and it would be good to progress further in the cup.

“They’re an aggressive team with quality all over the pitch so it will be tough, and we’ll have to be strong in our one v ones and really try to dominate.”

Marshall is one of the squad’s longest serving players and is closing in on 50 Clarets appearances, having joined the Club from Huddersfield Town in March 2023.

Now 22 years old, the centre-back was part of the team that got to the fourth round of this competition last season where they were beaten in extra time by Championship side Birmingham City.

“Before the season started we had an aim to get further than we did last season,” Marshall continued.

“You want to get as far as you can to get the big draws against the bigger teams – it means a lot and everyone steps up their game.

“So far (in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup) we’ve scored a lot of goals which is a bit eye catching, but I think this will be a different game.

“We won’t score as many and we’ll have to defend more, and I’m quite excited to have a bit more to do personally!

“We’re all prepared for a big pitch, there will be a lot of running to do because of that, but it’s nice and exciting to play in a Premier League stadium.”

All tickets purchased for the Sunday 5th January date will remain valid, and supporters with those tickets in their possession do not need to do anything.

Tickets for the match can be purchased right up until kick-off and are priced at £8 for adults, £6 for seniors (66+), students with a valid NUS card and youths aged 14-17, and £4 for children aged 4-13.

Turnstiles will open at 6pm on the day, with supporters encouraged to arrive as early as possible to avoid any queues and enjoy the pre-match atmosphere.
