16 Clarets players are currently out on season-long loan deals across nine leagues and three countries, including the Premier League, Vanarama National League North & Belgian Pro League.
That tally includes nine players from the academy here at the Club, with Sam Waller this week helping Lancaster City to return to winning ways. Elsewhere, Wout Weghorst geared up for international duty with success both in Europe and domestically.
Here’s a round-up of how the second eight loanees, in alphabetical order, have fared with their Clubs over the last week. Make sure to look out for ‘Loan Watch: Part One’ to keep up to date with how the other eight fared.
Lukas Jensen (Accrington Stanley)
One of four Clarets goalkeepers currently out on loan, Danishman Jensen has been with the Club since 2019.
The shot stopper returned from suspension for Stanley on Tuesday at home against Portsmouth only to be shown another straight red card 10 minutes in for denying a goalscoring opportunity. The side went on to lose 3-1, with Portsmouth’s Joe Piggott also shown red in the second half.
Jensen accordingly missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at home to MK Dons on Saturday, and looks set to remain suspended for Plymouth Argyle’s visit to the Wham Stadium tomorrow evening. He could return this Saturday away at Exeter City.

Luke McNally (Coventry City)
McNally’s loan spell with fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Coventry has been a success so far, playing every minute since joining the Sky Blues in January.
The Republic of Ireland youth international, who became a Claret last summer, helped City to a 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic on Tuesday and then a 4-1 victory at Blackpool on Saturday.

Mark Robins’ side are now just three points off the play-offs, with no match action this week due to the international break.
Matt Lowton (Huddersfield Town)
At the other end of the table, fellow defender Lowton – who has been at Burnley since 2015 – is trying to escape relegation with Huddersfield.
The full-back wasn’t involved in either of the Terriers’ games this week, though they picked up four points from a 1-1 draw at home against Norwich City and a 1-0 win at Millwall.
Neil Warnock’s side remain in the bottom three, now three points off safety heading into the international break.
Michael Mellon (Morecambe)
19-year-old Mellon, who has been a Claret since he was 15, joined Morecambe in January.

The Scotland youth international is currently on the sidelines with an injury, with talks ongoing regarding his loan arrangement.
Accordingly, he wasn’t involved in the Shrimps 4-1 defeat to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday or their 1-1 draw with Oxford United on Saturday, both of which at home. Derek Adams’ side are two points off safety in the Sky Bet League One relegation zone at the time of writing.

Owen Dodgson (Rochdale)
In the division below, full-back Dodgson – who has been with Burnley since the summer of 2020 - is trying to help keep Dale in the Football League.
For the first time since joining in January, Dodgson didn’t play the full 90 minutes on Saturday, withdrawn in the 85th, as they drew 4-4 at home against Swindon Town.
Charlie Austin scored all four goals for Swindon with hosts Dale grabbing a 94th minute equaliser to earn themselves a point from an action-packed affair. Jim Bentley’s side are six points off safety.

Sam Waller (Lancaster City)
After defeat in their last outing, goalkeeper Waller helped loan Club Lancaster to bounce back with a win, running out 2-1 victors away against Belper Town on Saturday afternoon.
Now 19, the shot stopper has been at Burnley since he was 12 and this weekend could face fellow Clarets loanee Dane McCullough as the Dolly Blues host Hyde United in the Northern Premier League’s Premier Division.

Will Norris (Peterborough United)
Experienced fellow ‘keeper Norris, who has been a Claret since August 2020, is four divisions higher with Peterborough and this week enjoyed two big wins as the Posh look to break into the Sky Bet League One play-off spots.
After a 5-2 win on the road against Burton Albion on Tuesday, Norris kept a clean sheet in a 3-0 victory at Lincoln City on Saturday. United are now just four points outside the top six with games in hand to come.
This week’s game(s): SAT – Derby County (H)
Wout Weghorst (Manchester United)
Weghorst joined Burnley in January 2022, and has been with Premier League outfit United since January of this year. The forward enjoyed success on two fronts this week.
Thursday night saw the Red Devils win 1-0 in Spain against Real Betis, sealing a 5-1 victory on aggregate in the UEFA Europa League. That set up a quarter-final tie against another Spanish Club in Sevilla.
Then, United reached the semi-finals of the FA Cup back on home soil with a 3-1 win over Fulham at Old Trafford yesterday. The last-eight tie was an action-packed encounter with the visitors at 1-0 up shown three red cards in one incident before the hosts turned it around.
Weghorst played the full 90 minutes in both games, and will face Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley in the competition’s last-four later this year. In the nearer future, he’ll link up with the Netherlands this coming week for their March internationals.
