Part Two of this week’s ‘Loan Watch’
13 players are currently on loan deals away from the Club, across various leagues and countries, including the Danish Superliga, Scottish Premiership, German Bundesliga and Turkish Süper Lig.
This tally includes players from both the first team, and U21s and below is a round up of how the final six players, in alphabetical order, fared in this week’s fixtures.
Michael Mellon (Morecambe)
Mellon enjoyed a mixed Saturday with the Shrimps, as he netted an 11th minute equaliser against top of the table Gillingham, however, the on-loan striker was sent off with 14 minutes to go, for a second bookable offence, as his side fell to defeat.
That loss leaves Derek Adams team sat 16th in the table, with 10 points after seven Sky Bet League Two games.
Next up for Morecambe is a home fixture against Liverpool U21s on Tuesday, a game that Mellon will now be suspended for.
This week’s game(s): TUE – Liverpool U21s (H), SAT – Swindon Town (H)
Owen Dodgson (Barnsley)
Dodgson played four minutes in Barnsley’s 2-0 victory over Burton Albion, replacing Nicky Cadden in the 86th minute of a game in which Devante Cole’s double saw the Tykes secure the three points.
That result means Neill Collins’ side sit fifth in the Sky Bet League One table, taking 13 points from their first seven games.
Next up for the on-loan left-back and Barnsley is the visit of Portsmouth, who are one place behind the Tykes in the table, as they are placed sixth.
This week’s game(s): TUE – Portsmouth (H), SAT – Northampton Town (A)
Samuel Bastien (Kasımpaşa S.K.)
DR Congo international Bastien made his debut for Turkish Süper Lig side Kasımpaşa on Sunday, coming on in the 76th minute of their 3-3 draw against Alanyaspor.
The midfielder joined Apaçiler last week, and his new team sit 11th in the league table, amassing six points from five games so far this season.
Bastien will look to make his first start for Kasımpaşa in Sunday’s game against Adana Demispor.
This week’s game(s): SUN – Adana Demirspor
Sam Waller (Hyde United)
Waller is one of two Clarets currently with Hyde, as defender Jack Turner is on a season-long loan with the Club.
The ‘keeper played 90 minutes for the Tigers in their 2-1 FA Cup Second Qualifying Round win against Albion Sports on Saturday.
Hyde face Basford United on Saturday at The Project Solar Stadium, and currently sit 16th in the Northern Premier League Premier Division table.
This week’s game(s): SAT – Basford United (H)
Scott Twine (Hull City)
Twine played the full 90 minutes in Hull’s game against Coventry City on Friday, with Aron Connolly’s 87th minute equaliser cancelling out Josh Latibeaudiere’s opener to earn a point for the Tigers.
That result leaves Liam Rosenior’s team in the play-off places of the Sky Bet Championship, as they sit fifth, and Twine has started four times since his arrival.
Leeds United visit Twine’s Tigers on Wednesday night, in what will be a tricky game for the on-loan midfielder against the newly relegated side.
This week’s game(s): WED – Leeds United (H), SUN – Stoke City (A)
Wout Weghorst (TSG Hoffenheim)
Weghorst returned to club action after a successful international break with the Netherlands, as Hoffenheim saw off the challenge of 1. FC Köln, winning 3-1 away from home, in a game in which the striker played 58 minutes.
The win sees Die Kraichgauer sat fifth in the German Bundesliga table, picking up nine points from the opening four games.
Next up for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side is another game on the road, this time against Union Berlin, on Saturday.
This week’s game(s): SAT – Union Berlin (A)
