Bailey Peacock-Farrell has high praise for the Danish Superliga and it’s ‘tactical tempo’ with the goalkeeper spending the campaign on loan with AGF Aarhus.
The Northern Ireland international moved to Denmark in August from Turf Moor on a season-long loan and the 27-year-old is enjoying the ‘change of scenery’ in Scandinavia.
Speaking to Burnleyfootballclub.com, Peacock-Farrell discussed the Danish Superliga and how life in the second largest City in Denmark looks for the former Leeds United shot-stopper. “It’s been going really well so far. It’s my first time living abroad and it’s been a really nice change of scenery for me.
“Aarhus is a lovely place to live. It’s the second largest city in Denmark and it’s a lot slower pace than living in Manchester, it’s peaceful. The majority of people commute by bicycles or walking rather than cars.
“On the league itself, it’s a very tactical league so the game can be a slower tempo with less transitions than the Championship or Premier League.
“Not many people back in England know too much about the Danish Superliga but I would say it’s on par with the Championship, then you have teams like Copenhagen who are doing really well in the Champions League.”
Peacock-Farrell has played 10 games this season in the league, which currently sees AGF Aarhus sit fourth in the table just eight points off league leaders Midtjylland.
Reflecting on his time so far, the ‘keeper said: “My first game was a win against Club Brugge in a European Conference qualifier which was fun.
“It’s nice to be playing regularly. We’ve had a couple of injuries this season but have hit great from over the last six games and finished the first half of the season with a quarter-final cup win over Brondby.”
The goalkeeper has now finished the first half of the 2023/24 campaign for a Christmas break before returning in January.
“I’m back home for 2/3 weeks now, which is really nice as it will be the first time I’ve been able to celebrate Christmas fully since U18 football.”
