A review on how the forward fared during his spell in Portugal

Zeki Amdouni returns to Burnley following a successful season-long loan spell with Primeira Liga side Benfica, after scoring nine goals in 43 appearances.

The forward joined the Portuguese giants at the end of August last year and made his debut for the Eagles in a 4-1 win over Santa Clara, before scoring his first goal for the club two weeks later in a 5-1 victory against Gil Vicente.

Amdouni also featured 11 times in the UEFA Champions League and marked a substitute appearance against Monaco with an 88th minute winner in a 3-2 win over the French opponents.

During his time in the Primeira Liga, the 24-year-old playmaker gained a pass accuracy percentage of 85.5% with a 75% long ball accuracy.

Amdouni also played his part defensively, winning 73% of his attempted tackles, making 10 blocks and recovering possession 39 times.

The Switzerland international also made his mark in the Taça da Liga competition, as Amdouni scored in the penalty shoot-out in the final against Sporting CP, before Bruno Lage's men went on to win the shoot-out and lift the trophy.

Despite missing out on the Portuguese league title by just two points, Amdouni tallied up 24 league appearances for the Eagles and contributed with seven league goals.
