Josh Laurent is a big believer that hard work reaps its rewards - and is determined to ensure he is in the best possible shape for the start of the Premier League season, which begins in earnest in just over a month's time.
Speaking on the first full day of the Clarets' pre-season training camp in Portugal, the 30 year-old spoke in the immediate aftermath of the first session in Quinta do Lago, commenting: "The first session was splendid.
"It was hard work - but that's what this time of the season is all about, working hard together.
"The first session is always tough when you come into a new environment like this - but the facilities, the pitches, everything is top class out here.

"It's an ideal setting for us to continue our work."
Laurent and his team-mates are currently embarking on week three of an intense per-season period, and the midfielder is already starting to see progress.
"The first few weeks have been great, it's been tough, but it's all about getting fitter and stronger and we're progressing with each session," he said.
"We're always learning - implementing tactical stuff into the sessions and integrating the new players - and moving in the right direction to be ready for the new season."
Laurent was also full of praise for the environment and culture manager Scott Parker has created at the club - something he feels will give the Clarets an edge in the forthcoming season.
"There's a great group here, everyone is pulling in the same direction. You can be in some dressing rooms where that's not the case, but everyone is so close here and everyone gets on so well - it's like going away with your mates in many ways, which is great.

"It's the best job in the world - team spirit was so important last year, a driving factor in our promotion to the Premier League, and that will be the same for this season too.
"We will need to be strong as unit, and the early signs are positive."
He added: "The manager is a big believer in culture - and he's the best I've worked with in that respect - he knows how to get a group together and create a culture that people can thrive in.
"It's so important that we're all together as a club, and I honestly can't speak any more highly of the people that work here.
"It's a big thing and the manager is the driving force behind it."
