Josh Laurent says there is 'business to be done' over the next couple of weeks, as the Clarets take on three promotion contenders in the space of a week over the festive period.

Burnley host 7th placed Watford on Saturday, travel to Bramall Lane on Boxing Day, before a trip to Middlesbrough on the 29th and Laurent acknowledged the importance of the fixtures, but insists the team must take it one game at a time over the busy schedule.

Speaking to Clarets+ on Thursday, the 29-year-old said: "You want to play in all the big games and these ones coming up are some of the biggest there is.

"Every game is important and every game we go into we want to win and perform our best, but ones around this time of year against all the teams around us, are the ones you get excited for.

"The first game is coming up this Saturday and that's the most important one for us right now as all our focus is on Watford, then we get that out the way and move on to working towards the next one at Sheffield United, then onto Middlesbrough after that.

"Me and the team are really looking forward to it, it's a special time of year for everyone, but for us there's business to be done and our aim is to get as many points on the board as possible."

The Clarets kick off their festive schedule on Saturday afternoon at Turf Moor when Watford travel to Lancashire and Laurent is hoping the team can put on a show for the fans in the final home game of the calendar year.

"It's a big game this weekend, they're (Watford) a really good side. We know what they are capable of, they can score goals and have got pace and power in attack, so we need to be at our best.

"It will be a good test for us, but also a good opportunity to make a statement again. We made one last weekend at Norwich in a different type of way, so hopefully we can get through what's going to be another tough game for us.

"We also want to entertain the fans, it's the last weekend before Christmas, they continue to come out and support us whatever the weather in their numbers, so it would be nice to gift them a good performance and three points."

Despite having a handful of games in a short space of time over the next week, Laurent admits he's looking forward to the bits of downtime he will have over Christmas with his family and especially his two young children.

"I love it, I have two young daughters and seeing the smiles on their faces is special. My youngest is probably a bit too young to understand it all yet, but she still loves it.

"Opening the presents with them in the morning and seeing how excited they are for the day is always special and it does help switching off a little bit when you can, mentally and physically, and spending time with the family.

"I've had some really good games on Boxing Day in the past because of it, but yeah it's then business as usual for us as we get ready for a trip to Sheffield."

Laurent has been getting into the Christmas spirit on and off the pitch and revealed he's a 'big Christmas film man' when discussing his favourite parts of this time of year.

"I watch a lot of films to be fair, I'm a big Christmas film man. I love Christmas, it's a great time of year. I love spending time with the family and everything that comes with it.

"I forced my eldest to watch Home Alone 2 with me the other day. Actually me, Nathan Redmond and Jaidon have been singing parts of the Home Alone songs in training, so we're all getting into the spirit."
