Boss Vincent Kompany insisted it was a 'point gained' after the Clarets extended their unbeaten run at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.
Despite moving thirteen points clear of second place Kompany said missed chances cost them in the goalless Lancashire derby at Blackpool.
Speaking on the west coast: “We had the chances. It was always going to be a tough away game and I think for large parts we had the game where we wanted it to be. But we haven’t been clinical. In the end it’s a point away from home and we move on to the next one.”
Around four thousand travelling Burnley fans contributed to a great atmosphere inside Bloomfield Road despite the lack of goals.
Kompany said: “Its a different ground than our place and it makes sense they have some kind of home advantage here but we had the chances and we conceded virtually nothing.
"The disappointment is because you want to win the game but in the end we gained a point and we get to look forward to the next game at Turf Moor.
“Sometimes it’s like this. It didn’t seem to be like anything we would do to change it would make a difference. We got in the final third but in the end you’ve got to give credit to the other team as well.
"They defended with a lot of bodies. These guys were all willing to do the extra yard. But in the moments we had the chances we couldn’t finish it off and in the end it’s a point and we move on."
Despite being in the bottom three this was the sixth home game in a row Blackpool have avoided defeat. Kompany conceded that made it a tough place to come to.
“You could see we were playing against a team that’s fighting for survival and those games are not easy. I think it’s eleven games left and they’ve got to do everything they can to stay in the league.
"We played against a team that was fighting for something. The fans were fighting for something. We did our best and, hopefully, on another day we come away with a win.
Burnley now have a clear week before the visit of Wigan Athletic next Saturday to Turf Moor and the manager is looking forward to putting in more work on the training ground.
“It’s good for us to have a week off. I think it was game nine in twenty seven days so we’ve got to give the lads massive credit for this month and the effort they’ve put in over that period of time. It gives us the chance to have a clear week and work towards the next game.
