Burnley boss reviews Turf Moor draw

Manager Vincent Kompany was pleased that his side left with a point on Tuesday night thanks to a stoppage time equaliser from Michael Obafemi.

Watford took the lead through Joao Pedro in the first half before 86th minute substitute Obafemi turned the ball in from close range deep into added time.

Speaking post-match at Turf Moor, Kompany described the result as a 'good point' and praised his side's character to keep going and earn a draw late on.

Kompany said: “They do seem to find a way and just reflecting on it now it’s a good point. We always want to win but things happened in this game and we thought – these types of games you have to lose them as well.

"The sloppy goal we conceded, the chances we missed and in the end, to do it in the last minute of the game – from a corner – it's a very very good result.”

"I think they had one shot on target so I couldn’t really be too harsh either but it’s the details of things. Looking after your first touch.

"Making sure we had the ball in the right conditions, the type of balls we played to each other, the key part for me was to keep threatening the goal.

"A sloppy moment and we could have had a defeat but the guys got what they deserved, or the minimum what they deserved and it’s a good result."

Obafemi became the Clarets' 18th goal scorer this season tonight and Kompany was pleased for the forward to get off the mark in just his second appearance.

The Clarets chief said: "You do know these players when they come on the scene they’ve got a belief that something will land for them.

"It's not the pretty goals that matter in this case, it’s the type of goals he’s scored. It's another player on the scoresheet and and extremely important point.

"I don’t think we can underestimate how important this point is, we're very grateful for it."
