Manager Vincent Kompany was pleased with his side's performance but believes 'there is much more to come' from his squad following Monday night's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
Zeki Amdouni fired the Clarets ahead on the stroke of half-time before Callum Hudson-Odoi struck home the equaliser for the hosts on the hour mark at the City Ground.
Speaking post-match in Nottingham, Kompany admits both sides could have taken the three points in an end-to-end encounter in front of the Sky cameras, but says it's progress for his side to build on ahead of Saturday's meeting with Manchester United at Turf Moor.
The Burnley boss said: "We have to fight for every point in this league and I thought tonight we really did that.
"It was a pretty even match and depending on which side of the fence you are sat on, there's a debate on which side deserved the three points.
"Our team has made so much progress already and there's so much more to come from these players and you could see that tonight.
"The work is on the training ground and the work will continue, you can see it every day. Hopefully by Saturday we have made more improvements once again."
Amdouni scored the winner in the Carabao Cup at Forest last month and the Swiss forward was on target for the Clarets once again on Monday night with a well-hit effort from the edge of the area.
Kompany says he was not surprised at all by his finish and for getting himself on the scoresheet again for the visitors, as the Belgian had high praise for the young forward's performances so far this season.
"Being honest, I am not surprised by his goal. It's normal it's what he does in training and what he has in his locker.
"Zeki is one of these players that can receive the ball under pressure and can get out of difficult situations which then opens up the game once he's out and that's key in this league."
The Clarets were denied what looked to be a winning goal in the 76th minute after substitute Sander Berge teed up Lyle Foster to turn home what would be his third of the season but VAR adjudged the midfielder of handling the ball in the process.
Asked about the disallowed goal, Kompany explained: "I have a footballing brain and business degree brain, but when it comes to rules and regulations of the law, there's not much I can say to be honest.
"I have made the decision to understand that they (VAR) know what they are doing and i don't want to go into it too much as it's done now and that's it."
