Burnley head to Reading on Saturday in the Sky Bet Championship and Manager Vincent Kompany insists his side must not take their foot off the gas after clinching promotion last Friday.
The Clarets secured their place in the Premier League with a 2-1 win at Middlesbrough on Good Friday before defeating Sheffield United 2-0 on Monday night.
Despite the Royals currently sitting in the bottom three and without a manager following Paul Ince's departure this week, Kompany knows his side will be in for a 'tough afternoon' at The Select Car Leasing Stadium but wants his men to finish the season on a high.
Speaking to the media on Thursday afternoon, Kompany said: "We’re going to face quite a few teams now that are fighting and have something to play for still.
"I think we’ve got QPR, Reading, Rotherham, Cardiff - so we’ll still have some where I’m not going to say we’ve got a role to play, but we have games that are going to be tough oppositions.
"Saturday will be tough. They have some talented players, have a fairly strong record at home and know they will be wanting to win.
"We played against Blackpool away and it was a 0-0 draw so we know how tough it can be against teams that are fighting for their lives, but from our side and point of view, we just want to keep our standards high and perform as we’ve been doing this season."
Kompany added: “I think because we still have to win the title officially, that still gives us something to look forward to and also we want to finish strongly.
"It would be a shame to have such a strong season and then finish on a little bit of a downer so we’ll go all the way until the last game and try and get the best performance out of the team.”
The Clarets were without Anass Zaroury on Monday night after picking up a slight knock at Middlesbrough and Josh Brownhill made way midway through the second half against the Blades after falling following a challenge.
The Burnley boss gave an update on the squad injury list ahead of the weekend and the progress of Jay Rodriguez's comeback.
"There's been positive feedback on both. Whether Browny will be fit for the weekend or not, we’ll see, but it’s not as bad as last time (Blackpool) he rolled his ankle for sure.
“Anass is fit and available if he gets through tomorrow’s training session alright.
"On Jay, we think he’s fine. We think he’s nearly there. He’s training well and I think it’ll just be a decision on a little bit of game time and seeing when is the right moment to fit him in, because he has been off the pitch for quite a considerable amount of time, but he’s nearly there so that’s good news for us.”
