Burnley Football Club can confirm that Zach Johnson has committed his future to the Clarets by signing his first professional contract.
Alongside playing a key role in the U18s’ Professional Development League North title win, Johnson made eight appearances for the U21s in the 2024/25 season.
When asked to summarise his feelings after putting pen to paper, he said: “It means everything to me.
“I’ve been at the Club since I was seven and ever since that point all I’ve wanted to do was earn a professional contract.
“I love everybody here and it’s a good place to keep working hard at, and I think I’m ready to step up to the U21s.
“Hopefully I can keep playing well, work hard for the team and get as many goals and assists as possible.”

Johnson has been with the Clarets ever since pre-academy level, penning a two-year scholarship deal ahead of the 2023/24 season.
That campaign, his first as a full-time footballer, saw him record an impressive tally of 15 goals and 19 assists.
The left-footed right winger was able to better those numbers last term, managing 20 goals and 22 assists in all competitions.
One of those was Johnson’s first U21s strike, which came in a Lancashire FA Senior Cup tie against Morecambe in February.
Academy Manager Chris Casper added: “Zach has earned this contract through his hard work and performances last season.
“That showed in his Premier League Scholar of the Year Award too, and I’m looking forward to seeing how he settles into our U21s group on a permanent basis.”
