Clarets’ goalkeeper Lukas Jensen has joined Carlisle United on a season-long loan.
Jensen signed a new two-year deal at Turf Moor this summer and the Dane and now moves to Brunton Park for the chance of first-team football.
Jensen spent the second half of last season at Bolton Wanderers without making an appearance as the Trotters secured promotion.
But that opportunity may now come back in League Two with the Cumbrians with the 22-year-old set to figure in Carlisle’s squad for a friendly against Chorley on Tuesday night.
Jensen joined the Clarets in 2019 and as well as featuring regularly for the Under-23s has made it as far as the bench at first-team level.
And the towering shot-stopper recently ended a successful loan spell in Iceland, gaining further first-team experience in a run of games with Kordrengir as they challenge for promotion from the league’s second tier.
“Credit to him. He sacrificed most of his summer to go and play in Iceland, which has earned him a move to a League club,” said Clarets’ goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer.
“He had a spell at Bolton last season, which was disappointing from a playing point of view but gave him valuable experience of being part of a promotion-winning set-up.
“And he has now a chance to gain further experience with a good move to Carlisle after earning a new contract here.”
