Burnley Football Club, Blackburn Rovers and Lancashire Police have been working on the Burnley v Blackburn Rovers matchday operation since June when the 2022/23 fixtures were announced. The East Lancashire derby on Sunday 13th November (12.30pm KO) is sold out and therefore if you do not have a ticket, please do not travel to Turf Moor.
It is always the aim is to create a safe environment for fans of all ages to attend Turf Moor and enjoy a game of football.
As with many local derby games around the country, passion often runs high, which can - on occasion - cause points of conflict. Although the majority of supporters attending are genuine, well behaved football fans, there are a minority who may be intent on acting in an anti-social manner. To mitigate against this behaviour, we are introducing increased safety and security measures including enhanced search procedures at the turnstiles. There will be additional restrictions required for those attending.
At the game on Sunday, you are likely to see a significant policing presence, more than usually seen at matches at Turf Moor. This is due to the derby nature of the fixture and the main aim of promoting public safety.
Before and after the fixture, measures will be put in place to ensure both sets of supporters arrive and leave the stadium in a structured manner via allocated pre-determined routes. To achieve this we are looking for your support and understanding.
Home supporters will be asked to leave the stadium via specified routes, while Blackburn supporters will be directed via an alternative direction. Designated stadium exit routes will be communicated directly to Burnley supporters before the weekend.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the routes will add a little more time to your journey to and from the stadium.
We would like to express in advance our thanks for your anticipated co-operation. We do appreciate there will be some inconvenience and will attempt to keep this to a minimum.
Enjoy the game!
