Based in West London, the club was founded in 1886 with the merging of two teams from the local area ‘Christchurch Rangers’ & ‘St Jude’s’.
Turning professional three years later, the Hoops would go on to enter the Southern Football League, playing out the first ever Charity Shield match against Football League champions Manchester United, losing 4-0 in a replay.
Joining the Football League’s Third Division in 1920, QPR frequently jumped between leagues before becoming the first ever Third Division club to win the League Cup in 1967 when they beat West Brom in the competition’s final. That was also the first ever League Cup final to be held at Wembley.
Reaching the top flight for the first time the year after, the Rs would go onto miss out on the First Division title by one point in 1975/76, playing in Europe not long after without any huge success.
Involved in the Premier League for its first four years, the club didn’t make it back until 2011 when promotion from the Championship was achieved, winning the title under Neil Warnock.

That first season back in the top-flight saw Rangers be Manchester City’s opponents for the famous ‘Aguero’ moment, QPR survived that day. They were to be relegated the year after though and despite bouncing back via the play-offs at the first time of asking, another relegation followed in 2014/15.
The R’s have not reached the top flight since and have had eight managers in that timeframe to try get QPR back to the Premier League with current boss Marti Cifuentes now in charge.

Played for both –
Jimmy Dunne –
Dunne joined the Clarets’ academy set-up in the summer of 2016 after arriving from Manchester United. The Irishman initially spent his time with the U23s side, before gaining first team experience in loan spells with Barrow, Accrington Stanley, Hearts, Sunderland and Fleetwood Town. September 2020 saw Dunne make his senior debut as the defender started in a Carabao Cup tie with Sheffield United at Turf Moor. The centre-back then scored on his Premier League debut a week later in a 4-2 defeat at Leicester City on the opening weekend of the 2020/21 campaign. Following four years in Lancashire, Dunne departed the Clarets in July 2021 and signed a three-year deal with QPR. After only missing eight league games in his first season at Loftus Road, Dunne has become a regular in the R’s starting XI and has player over 100 games in the past three years.
Bradley Orr –
Born in Liverpool, Orr came through the academy system with Newcastle United, but with gametime limited at St James’ Park the defender joined Burnley on an initial month loan deal in January 2004. The full-back made his Clarets debut in a 0-0 draw with Wigan Athletic and went on to feature four times in a brief loan spell before returning to Newcastle and going on to sign for Bristol City. The defender spent six seasons at Ashton Gate, before signing for QPR in the summer of 2010. Orr was an integral member of the R’s squad that went on to win the Championship title that season and earn promotion to the Premier League. The left-back spent a season-and-a-half at Loftus Road before signing for Blackburn Rovers.
