Midfielder discusses Clarets loan move

James Ward-Prowse said he's 'looking forward to the challenge ahead' as he became the Clarets first signing of the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old arrives in Lancashire with bags of experience which is he hoping can help the team for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign.

ON PUTTING PEN TO PAPER

“It’s good to get everything done. It’s crazy how quickly football can change and these things happen. It’s good to be here, I’m glad to be in the building and I’m looking forward to getting started now.

“I’m somebody that always gives 100%, that’s something that’s been engrained in me right from a young lad coming through the academy, was to give 100% no matter what. Of course, we all want to play well every week, it’s not always possible but I’ll always give everything for the shirt no matter who I’m playing for.

“I’m looking forward to the challenge ahead. It’s clear what needs to be achieved and hopefully I can play a good part in that.”

EAGER TO PLAY

“I’ve been used to throughout my career playing consistently and playing a lot. So, to have had a bit of a period away from the game if you like was disappointing and challenging in many ways. But I think it gave me a chance to reflect on myself and to work on a few things. It’s almost made my love for the game grow even more. I’m eager to get back playing and hopefully help the team in the best way possible.”

FAMILIAR FACES

“There’re a few players that I know already so that obviously helps to settle in the group.

“I’ve played with a lot of lads who have played at Burnley, Danny Ings, Jay Rodriguez and Jack Cork. They all spoke really highly of the club and enjoyed their time here, so I thought it was a fitting match.

“Jack’s someone that looked after me when I was really young, he put his arm around me and sort of showed me the ropes. I’m maybe the slightly older player now and hopefully I can do that to the next generation. So, footballs got a funny way of working, it’s good to see him again.”
