Best friends and Burnley supporters, Freddie, and Hughie, both rose to fame by winning Pride of Britain after raising more than £200,000 for charity after Hughie was diagnosed with leukaemia.
The pair touched the hearts of millions across the country, and Freddie and Hughie are now embarking on a new challenge together, by running around the perimeter of each of the 92 professional football grounds in England across the Premier League and the EFL.
The aim is to do at least 1km at each football stadium, with their overall target to run 100km. Freddie and Hughie are running to raise money for every children’s hospital in England to provide slushy drink pouches for children who are having chemotherapy.
One of the side effects of chemotherapy is sore mouths, so the slush puppies help soothe the pain.
On Boxing Day, Freddie and Hughie began their challenge with the first 1km completed at Turf Moor alongside celebrity Burnley supporter, and their close friend, Jordan North.
Jordan presented both Freddie and Hughie with a Burnley shirt, and joined them both for their first 1km, three laps around the perimeter of the Turf Moor pitch.
BBC Breakfast were also in attendance to capture the first lap live, with millions of people watching at home.
Freddie and Hughie said: “This was our first run of a new challenge, to get around every English football league ground, we’ve started on our own turf, at the Turf, and it’s been really good.
“We want to raise money for all the oncology hospitals around the country. We’ve got 99 more runs and our next run is at Walsall on New Year’s Day and Birmingham on the 2nd January, it’s so good to get it started at the Turf.”
Jordan added: “They did this last year to raise money, and they’ve decided to do it again this year, but together. We've started at the Turf, so we’ve done a kilometre.
“The plan over the next couple of weeks and months is to do a kilometre at every stadium in the country, so good luck to them. They are great lads, and they just capture what Burnley is all about, they are fantastic lads, and they are a credit to the Club as well.
“When I got out of the castle last year, I got sent a link from my mum saying have you seen what these two lads are doing from Burnley? So, I’ve been following them closely for the past year.
“When Kieran, their dad, texted me and said they are doing it again, so fair play.
“It’s not easy. I go running a lot, but especially a day after Christmas after a big Christmas Dinner, and they were setting the pace.
“The two young lads are raising money for a great cause and it’s not just the Club, it’s what the whole town is about, two best mates raising money for a really good cause, and Burnley is a lovely town full of great people who will do anything for you, and these two sum it up.”
