As the Clarets kick off their 2023/24 campaign on Friday night when Manchester City come to Turf Moor Johann Berg Gudmundsson is hoping the 'incredible atmosphere' can play it's part.
Vincent Kompany's men are set to take on last season's treble winners in front of a sell-out crowd this weekend to kick off the Premier League campaign for the first home action since May.
Gudmundsson knows that taking on Pep Guardiola's City will be a challenging task, but with the support of a vocal and noisy backing at Turf Moor that 'anything can happen' on Friday evening.
Speaking ahead of the clash, the Icelandic midfielder said: “It’s the opening game of the Premier League, something every player wants to be a part of and luckily we get to be a part of that, against a fantastic team obviously. I'm really looking forward to it.

“It’s going to be difficult, but at home anything can happen, especially in front of our fans, back in the Premier League, it’s going to be an incredible atmosphere on Friday.
“The atmosphere the whole of last season was unbelievable and they helped us in every home game, I think we played extremely well at home and we need that again in the Premier League this year."
The midfielder added: “It’s such a difficult league and we need the home form to be on top and the fans definitely help us with that.
“Friday night, under the lights, it’s going to give you something extra and hopefully we can showcase that on the pitch."

Gudmundsson was the scorer the last time the Clarets took a point from City, as the wideman hammered home Matt Lowton's cross at the back post to earn Burnley a point in a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor in 2018.
Reminiscing that strike and result, Gudmundsson has fond memories: “It was a good game from us I remember, obviously to get a draw from a very good team at the time was a fantastic result for us.
“I think the manager (Vincent Kompany) was playing for Man City at the time. Hopefully we can have another moment like that on Friday and make it one to remember."
