Anna Grey says she is looking forward to returning to the hustle and bustle of league action this afternoon following last weekend’s FA Women’s National league Cup win at Sutton Coldfield Town.
The winger was introduced as a 63rd-minute substitute at the Domino’s Arena, playing her part as the team secured progression to the second round of the competition.
The Northern Premier Division of the Women’s National League is back on the agenda today, though, and Grey is excited to fight for another three points.
She said: “I’m really looking forward to it.
“The cup is obviously really important to us but the league is most important so I can’t wait to get back to it.
“The mood in the squad is really good and recent results have given us some momentum, so hopefully we can back up those three wins with another one on Sunday.”
Rebecca Sawiuk’s side picked up valuable wins over West Bromwich Albion and Liverpool Feds in their last two league outings, alongside a point at Nottingham Forest too.
Because of that the top of the table is now particularly congested, with a single point separating the top four teams.
“It’s really important to get another three points and stay with the pack, but equally it’s still very early days,” the 22-year-old continued.
“Of course we want to get the three points against Derby and I personally relish that pressure as a player.
“I’ve not played against Derby before but they have a couple of ex team-mates that I know and it will be good to see them again. I’m sure it will be a good game!”
Grey finished by reflecting on her time with the Club so far, having moved north in the summer as part of a quartet that were playing at Championship level with Lewes last season.
“I’ve really enjoyed it here,” she explained.
“I’ve settled in well with the girls and I’m enjoying training. It’s been good to get a lot of minutes under my belt too, which I think has helped me develop as a player already.”
Kick-off at the County Ground in Leyland (PR25 2LF) is 2pm and Burnley season ticket holders are able to claim free entry by presenting their season card at the gate.
Other adults are £5, while concessions are £2.
