- Vincent was born on 10th April 1986, Uccle, Belgium - he is 36 years old
- The central defender started his career at his hometown club, Anderlecht, making his first team debut aged just 17
- Kompany won several awards during his first spell at Anderlecht including the Belgian Golden Shoe (voted best player in the Belgian top division) and two league titles

- The defender quickly became a mainstay in the City team, and helped the club win their first major trophy in 35 years, as the blue half of Manchester won the FA Cup in 2011, beating Stoke City by one goal to nil at Wembley
- In a year to remember, Manchester City qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history, and Kompany won the club's Supporter's Player of the Year and Player's Player of the Year awards, and the Premier League Player of the Season
- The following season, Kompany became Manchester City captain and he led the club to their first Premier League title with a dramatic final day victory against Queens Park Rangers

- This sparked a flurry of trophies for the Belgian at Manchester City, and overall, he lifted four Premier League titles, four EFL Cups and two FA Cups. Kompany made 338 appearances for City, scoring 20 times, before departing to join his first club, Anderlecht as player-manager
