Players support BFCitC Premier League Inspires programme

Burnley FC in the Community recently hosted an unforgettable ‘Inside Burnley’ event for students involved in Premier League Inspires.

Young people from All Saints RC High School, West Craven High School, Colne Primet Academy, Sir John Thursby Community College, and Coal Clough Academy came together at Turf Moor for a day of inspiration, insight, and surprise.

Throughout the day, students heard from a range of Burnley FC staff who shared their career journeys, offered behind-the-scenes perspectives, and gave practical advice to help students shape their own futures. Speakers included:

Mark Howarth, Head of Retail and E-Commerce
Georgina Escandon, Fan Experience Intern
Lola Ogunbote, Head of Women’s Football
Chris Andrews, Director of Sport and Football, Burnley FC in the Community
Jack Tebbutt, First Team Player Care Lead

Just as the students were preparing to leave, they were led into the home changing rooms for one final surprise, where Burnley FC players Florentino Luís and Max Weiß were waiting to greet them.

For many of the young Burnley fans in the group, it was a dream come true. The players took time to chat, answer questions, and share their own experiences in football.

Anita Ghdotti, Chief Executive of Pendle Education Trust said: “Such a fantastic day for our children to hear from key staff at the football club. The positive messages about taking all the opportunities life throws your way; working hard to achieve and having goals ran through all the sessions. The finale with Florentino & Weiß waiting for them in the changing rooms was the icing on the cake and their faces were fantastic, what a great surprise. Inspirational and heart-warming.”

Martin Parkes, Assistant Headteacher at All Saints RC High School added: “Just to say a huge thanks to Burnley FC in the Community and Burnley Football Club for another brilliant experience for our pupils. The range of speakers was fantastic, and the pupils loved hearing their stories that varied so much. Most importantly each speaker made their talks relevant and personable to the young people. The stadium tour and meeting the players was amazing and will stay with the pupils forever! They were all buzzing on the way home!”
