Zian Flemming was the hero in the East Lancashire derby back in January when the Clarets defeated Rovers once again at Ewood Park and the striker is excited to be playing in another all-Lancashire clash this weekend.

Burnley travel to Preston on Saturday lunchtime and are set to be backed by over 6,000 supporters at Deepdale and the 26-year-old is relishing the opportunity of getting out there once again in front of what he described 'amazing support'.

Speaking to Clarets+ on Thursday ahead of the visit, Flemming said: “I was pretty surprised when I heard there would be 6,000 fans there, but surprised in a positive way, because I’ve never really heard so many away fans travelling to a game like this.

“It’s amazing numbers to be honest and it will create an amazing atmosphere, so I can’t wait to be playing in front of them again and in another local game like this."

Although Saturday's opponents are 15th in the league table, Flemming is well aware of the threat that North End can pose.

“Preston are always a good side, especially over the last couple of years where they’ve tried to push towards the play-offs.

“If you catch them on one of those days where they’re good, like when we played them at home, it’s definitely not an easy game.

"It’s a good team that we have to be aware of, but we’re confident we can go there and get the three points.”

Flemming recently took his goal tally to nine for the season on Wednesday night in the victory against Hull City and it turned out to be his first goal at Turf Moor this season.

Glad to be off the mark at home, he said: "It’s taken a while, a bit too long I think. To be honest at the beginning I didn’t really think about it, because sometimes you score, sometimes you don’t score.

"But as soon as you get to six, seven and eight goals, people like to remind you that all of them have been away, so when it got to that point I really wanted to score at home.

“It was nice to finally get off the mark at home.”
