Zian Flemming's wonder strike at Carrow Road helped the Clarets secure a comeback victory against Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship on Sunday afternoon.

The 26-year-old netted the equaliser in the second half before Captain Josh Brownhill's winner eight minutes later earned Scott Parker's men three points.

Speaking after the game, the Dutchman assessed the game overall, talked his fabulous finish and looked ahead to a busy schedule of December fixtures.

“It was a really tough game in terms of quality from both sides. Not from us all the time and not from them all the time but I think in general it looked like a tough game.

“The first half we probably weren’t happy with how we performed, and Norwich showed also why they are a great team. The second half we managed to turn it around luckily, so in that sense Norwich won’t be happy with the second half and we’re not happy with the first half.”

Trailing 1-0 from an early Canaries lead, Flemming was introduced as a substitute in the 64th minute and went on to score just four minutes later. So, what were Head Coach Scott Parker's instructions?

“Nothing too specific apart from the tactical change. It’s a bit weird sometimes as obviously we try our hardest every minute of every game and sometimes there’s a half, or there’s moments in the game, where all of a sudden, we just lose 50/50 duals, or it feels like we just can’t get near them. Sometimes you can’t really lay your finger on why it does work later on in the game or sometimes it works earlier in the game. I don’t know it’s a bit of a weird game! You can’t always explain it properly why it goes the way it goes but somehow, we managed to turn it around.”

It went on to be quite the entrance with Flemming netting an impressive finish from 30-yards out...

“It felt good! It all went a bit quickly because I didn’t walk over to Josh to receive the ball really. But they weren’t really switched on and Browny actually from 10, 20 yards away said, ‘just let him tap it short and go for a shot’. So, we said why not and to be honest I took the shot, and I can’t remember seeing the ball really apart from it hitting the net. I was just happy that we scored but also as it was only 1-1 it gave energy to me and to the rest of the team and the travelling fans. Then it’s like it’s 1-1 here, we’re all square again, we can actually win this game, and we did.”

Just how important does he think it is to show the characteristics shown and comeback from such an early setback?

“Naturally, we’d rather win with clean sheets and comfy three nils. We obviously get lots of clean sheets which is really good and funnily enough we’re not really used to conceding – we’re especially not used to going behind. But the times that it has happened we’ve shown great character and we’re able to turn a game around when we’ve had a setback early on or whatever moment in the game. I think it’s very important because you can’t bet on clean sheets all the time. I mean we’d love to go 30 clean sheets in a row but sometimes, unfortunately, you’re going to concede and sometimes you’re going to concede first.

“In the Championship that is a really big factor because the first goal often gets a team the win. So, it shows great character more than anything I think, that we did this.”

Finally with the games coming round quickly the festive season looks set to be a busy one for Flemming and his teammates.

“It’s nice, it’s a busy December. Everyone is thinking about seeing family and having Christmas dinners and we are preparing for the games. But it’s a great time of the year to be a footballer to be honest. Especially with the type of games we’ve got in December, Norwich who I consider to be one of the top teams, Watford as well just outside the top six, then straight after that Sheffield United, so it’s big fixtures.

“As players we get excited about those kinds of challenges, and we can’t wait for it.”
