Burnley Football Club can confirm that Sarah Agger, Cara Bickett, Mel Brown, Megan Dykes and Nicola Worthington have all departed Burnley FC Women.
Midfielder Agger first joined in the summer of 2019, seeing Covid-19 impact her first season with the Club. She leaves the Claret Women having spent the previous two campaigns on the sidelines with a serious injury.
Bickett also joined Burnley at the same time, and departs three years on to take up a new opportunity with AFC Fylde Women having recovered from a season-ending injury picked up back in October 2021 which ruled her out of the remainder of the 2021/22 campaign.
Experienced centre back Brown is another to have joined in 2019, and now departs having played 16 times across all competitions last term, earning a Lancashire FA Women’s Challenge Cup winners’ medal as the Claret Women won the cup competition for the first time.
Dykes – who also earned a winners’ medal – leaves after a successful 17-month spell. First joining in April 2021, the versatile defender played her part in the side’s FA Cup run before signing on for the 2021/22 campaign, playing 22 times across all competitions.
Dykes scored one goal during her time with the Claret Women and now links up with fellow former Claret Katie Thomas at newly-promoted outfit Liverpool Feds Women.
Completing the members of the squad to depart is experienced midfielder Worthington, who has joined Blackburn Rovers Ladies in the Women’s Championship.
Joining in 2019, the 29-year-old won the Burnley FC Women’s Player of the Year award for 2020/21, and last season was the side’s third-highest appearance maker, scoring 11 times across all competitions.
The Club would like to thank all departing players for their efforts during their time here, and wish them well for the future.
