Ahead of an epic summer of women’s sport, Fitness Evolution, Burnley’s cutting-edge sport, fitness, and strength and conditioning centre is pleased to announce a brand-new partnership with Burnley FC Women.
The Claret women, who compete in the third tier of the women’s football pyramid, have an ambitious target of reaching the Women’s Super League (WSL) in the next three years.
The Club recently appointed Jonathan Morgan, a manager with an exceptional track record at Leicester City Women, who under his leadership guided the Foxes to the Women’s Super League in 2021, the highest tier of women’s professional play in the UK.
Burnley Football Club’s women’s team will use Fitness Evolution, based on Burnley College’s £100 million town-centre campus, as their home training complex and for all their strength and conditioning training.
The facility has recently seen a £6.5 million extension, filled with industry-leading new training technology including a cryogenic chamber which drops the temperature to -80 Celsius to promote swift recovery and an environmental chamber where humidity, altitude and temperature can all be controlled to simulate training at the top of Everest or in the deepest rain forest.
In addition to this, the partnership will see the exciting development of an Elite Professional Pathway, offering female players the opportunity to combine their education, with professional training at Fitness Evolution and Burnley FC Women.
Ashley Alderson, Manager of Fitness Evolution says this is just the first step: “Firstly I’m so pleased to be able to announce this partnership. It’s an ambitious plan, but with the level of commitment, passion, expertise and, with the highest standards of facilities at both Burnley FC and Fitness Evolution, we can achieve it.
“It also represents everything we stand for at Fitness Evolution and with our colleagues at Burnley College. We want to provide everyone who has the passion, the opportunity to excel at the highest levels at whatever they desire.
“Women’s football has exploded over the last few years, and now we can offer young women around the region, and further, a solid pathway to becoming a professional player.
“We are currently putting the final touches to our Elite Professional Pathway - an academy for 16-18-year-old women. We will create bespoke programmes to take our most talented players and, with our educational partners at Burnley College, ensure that they match their sporting excellence with academic excellence too.”
Head of Women’s Football at Burnley FC, Lola Ogunbote said: “This marks another major step in the right direction towards creating an environment for our players to reach their full potential both on and off the pitch. We understand the value of collaborating with partners who share our vision and ambition for Burney FC Women and the game football as a whole. “To do this with a locally based partner in fitness evolution further emphasise our desire to do things the Burnley way.”
In partnership with Fitness Evolution, Burnley FC Women will be holding trial dates on the 16th & 17th of July 2022, ahead of the 2022/23 season.
