Fourth round tie awaits young Clarets

Burnley U18s continue their 2023/24 FA Youth Cup campaign against Queens Park Rangers at their MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium on Monday night.
The Young Clarets booked their place in the fourth round with a dramatic 4-3 penalty shoot-out victory over Birmingham City, with extra time unable to separate the two teams.
Zach Johnson opened the scoring at the County Ground in Leyland and after the Midlanders took the lead, Jack Rogers struck in the final seconds to earn a shoot-out.
The spot-kicks followed the exciting nature of the game itself, with goalkeeper Lewis Forshaw saving three attempts before Olly Pimlott slotted one down the middle to spark Burnley celebrations.
Tony Philliskirk’s team’s last outing was a 3-2 Professional Development League defeat to Birmingham City last weekend, with Benji Wetshi and Vernon Masara on target.
QPR made it this far with an extra-time and penalties victory of their own, eventually beating Wolverhampton Wanderers 9-8.
They play in the southern section of the Professional Development League table and sit eighth in their 10-team table, winning four and drawing one of their 14 outings.
Micah Hyde’s team came from behind three times to beat Swansea City 4-3 last time out, and the R’s are unbeaten in their last three home matches.
Supporters can attend this fixture, with tickets on general sale in The Bhatia Stand via QPR’s website HERE.
Adults are priced at £3, with seniors (over 62), young adults (under 23), and juniors (under 18) able to gain entry for £1.
