Kirstie Levell believes that she can bring knowledge of what it takes to push her Clarets teammates onto the next level.
The ‘keeper joined the Club on Friday following her departure from Leicester City and arrives as the Claret Women’s seventh summer signing.
After joining up with Rebecca Sawiuk’s side, Levell claimed that her previous promotions could help her teammates in their push for FA Women’s Championship football.
The 26-year-old said: “I’m hoping that I can bring my knowledge of what it takes to gain promotion but also help the girls who are maybe new to this environment and help them settle in.
“I’m a new player but I’m a lot older than a few of them, so it’s nice to be able to share that experience but also to share with the team what it takes to actually get promoted.
“What you need is a tight knit team that will all work for each other, on and off the pitch and also to value the time that you get to share together and make it worthwhile when it comes to matchday.”
Alongside Levell in the goalkeeping department will be Lauren Bracewell and Lucy Farrell, who she spoke highly of during her interview with burnleyfc.com. She believes both ‘keepers have necessary qualities to create a strong ‘goalkeeping union’ and is looking forward to working with her peers.
The ex-Everton ‘keeper added: “At past clubs I’ve worked with a younger goalkeeper, and I absolutely love sharing my experiences with them and watching them grow over the course of the season.
“I’m really hoping that both myself and Lauren [Bracewell] together can get the best out of Lucy [Farrell].
“I think we’ve got a great goalkeeping union with different age gaps between us and I think we can all learn different things from each other, whether that’s actually football-based or a mentality-based type of thing.
“Lauren’s been captain of the Club for so many years, so she’s got leadership qualities and that’s something I’d love to gain.
“With Lucy, she’s got younger qualities coming through and all it needs is that little bit of help to get those out of her.
“So, I think combined, we can be a great goalkeeping union.”
The Claret Women begin their season on Sunday – 20th August – with a game against Liverpool Feds, and Levell is more than ready to make her Burnley debut.
She continued: “I’m really excited as I used to play for Liverpool Feds at youth level, before I joined an academy.
“I know a lot of players there, but once I get onto the pitch I’ll be focused and ready to go.
“It’s been a great pre-season for Club, and I really can’t wait to get going and hopefully get the three points and get off to a good start.”
