Head Coach Scott Parker says although he enjoyed the summer break and switching off from football to a degree, the Clarets boss is eager to get going in the upcoming season.

The Clarets have been back in pre-season for nearly two weeks now and Parker admits the team are 'full of excitement' as Burnley gear up for another year in the Premier League.

Speaking to media on Thursday for the first time since the end of last season, Parker said: "As always, as a player I was very similar and probably as a coach I am very similar as well.

"You get to the summer and you don’t think about football probably for the first two or three weeks and then before you know it, you’re sitting on the beach or you’re sitting somewhere, and you start missing it all and you can't wait to get back.

"We had a really successful year last year, set our objectives and we managed to achieve them. Now full focus is on this upcoming season.

"We are absolutely full of excitement now and can’t wait for the challenge that we face, which is the Premier League, which we all aspire to be in."

It was a more than impressive campaign for Parker's men last year and the Burnley boss says his side can carry momentum from last season's success into the 2025/26 season, but understands the difficulty that comes with the top-flight.

"For sure we can take momentum." Admitted Parker.

"In terms of last year, we went 33 games unbeaten, we conceded a record amount of 16 goals, had 30 clean sheets and 100 points.

"We’re coming off a season where we achieved something which was unprecedented. What we did last year was nothing short of remarkable, and it was this group of players and us as a football club that did that really.

"Of course, there’s a challenge and we understand that the narrative is that the challenge is going to be very difficult. The last two seasons it was well documented that teams that come up get relegated from this division, but like always, I always mention to the players that these are the challenges that we relish.

"We’ll go and face this challenge this year with full commitment, desire and a real excitement about it, like we did last year. There are different dynamics this year of course but it’s one where we are hoping to go in there and be ourselves and try to be successful."

Burnley have added five players to the squad already this transfer window and Parker is 'delighted' with the business the Club have made so far and says there will be more to come in the coming weeks.

"Well, It’s always a challenging time, obviously for the owners and certainly as a manager at times, lots of conversations, meetings, phone calls.

"In an ideal world, as a coach and certainly in the position I sit, you’d want to try and do all your business as early as you can, to get players in, get them in pre-season, get them up to speed, get detail into them about what we’re going to be this year, how we’re going to go about it.

"I’m delighted with the business we’ve done so far. We’ve brought in some very good players, and good business with that as well. Hopefully there is some more to come, and we can keep developing and pushing."
