Although Maxime Estève is approaching one year as a Burnley player next week, the France U21 international feels like he has been with the Club for years!

The centre-back initially joined the Clarets on the 1st February last year on loan from Montpellier, before making the move permanent in the summer and the Frenchman couldn't be happier talking about coming up to the one-year mark.

Talking to Clarets+ on Monday, Estève smiled: "I honestly have the impression that I have been here for like four or five years, but it's very good to be here one year already.

"This Club is very special to me and I really like to be here. I'm very happy, every day I come to the training ground and I just enjoy seeing everyone, the players, staff and the fans.

"Honestly, I'm really happy. I repeat it in all the interviews I do, but I really do love it here and everyone in this Club is absolutely top, I'm very happy to make one year."

Estève has built a special connection with the supporters over the last 12 months at Turf Moor and the defender was pleased his family were in attendance last weekend against Sunderland and could hear the famous 'Steve' chant first-hand following his fantastic challenge on Wilson Isidor.

"It's crazy (having a personal chant), I have never seen something like this before. In France I didn't have this, but I am proud. My father and wife have a joke about it every week.

"My family enjoy it too, they think it's special. So, thank you to the fans because it's very nice for the chant. There is a very good relationship between me and the fans, I hope it can continue like this."

The centre-back has been a key cog in the team that has helped keep 18 clean sheets this season and only conceded nine goals in 27 games, but he was keen to highlight that it's a whole team effort.

"It's the whole, to be honest. Ok, you see the backline and the defenders, but it's the whole team, from the attack, midfield to the goalkeeper.

"Everybody has played a part this season and although we have a very solid backline, it's not just us that stop the ball from going in, it's everyone."

Burnley head to Plymouth on Wednesday night, before hosting Leeds United on Monday and Estève insists the Clarets need to be at their best at Home Park to take confidence into the top-of-the-table clash.

"Every game in this division is hard, you play every three or four days so can sometimes be a bit tired, but you have to be ready quickly for the next match.

"It's very important for us to win on Wednesday, but it won't be easy. We know they can be a difficult team and especially at home in front of the supporters.

"We are fully focussed on Wednesday and we want to come home with three points, before we then look ahead to the next one. But we have to focus first on Plymouth.

"Monday is a big game, but it doesn't mean anything if we have a poor result before that game. So, it would be massive to win this week before that game and then switch focus onto Leeds."
