Dyche: We'll Have To Be At Our Best
2021-01-12T12:00:00.000Z
Sean Dyche accepts his players will have to be on song to stop Manchester United’s travelling bandwagon tonight.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side can go top of the Premier League with three points, having won six and drawn one of their seven away games so far this season.
But Clarets boss Dyche hopes his side can continue their own run of form to repeat the success at Old Trafford last season.
“We’re on a good run ourselves, don’t forget, so we are in a good place with our performances,” he said.
“The win we got at Old Trafford last season was a very good performance from our players.
“We were very good, I thought, on that occasion, and we’re going to have to be very good again.
“That one’s not rocket science. To beat the top players and the top teams then you’ve got to play well, so that’s the minimum we hope to do.”
United’s scintillating form on the road has propelled them to joint-top of the Premier League.
But Dyche refuted the suggestion that the run of results makes Burnley’s life harder at Turf Moor.
“I don’t think their away record makes it harder. It’s always hard playing the top teams, home or away,” he added.
“Manchester United are up there for a reason and they are a very good outfit. I don’t think anyone felt they weren’t.
“A short time ago there were questions, don’t forget, and some people were scratching their heads wondering what was next for them.
“They’ve since won two games and it’s hurrah, look at Man U!
“Those are the complexities of managing a club like United, where the question marks start very quickly, given the talent they have.
“They are doing what most people would expect them to do, and that’s winning games.”
Clarets+ has live commentary from Turf moor tonight form 8pm, with Phil Bird and Andy Payton.
