Dyche: On West Ham Loss

2021-01-16T17:00:00.000Z

Sean Dyche remains confident his side has the fire power to get back to winning ways soon in the Premier League.

Dyche was left feeling frustrated as an early Michail Antonio strike eased West Ham past the Clarets, despite a late flurry from the visitors

But the Burnley boss feels his side’s performances are good enough - and that his side will turn the corner.

Dyche said: “I was disappointed in the result, inevitably, and we just need to get the margins in our favour, particularly in the attacking third.

“Defensively, I thought we were good. Their goal is a mis-communication from a nothing situation.

“Ben Mee, who I thought was superb today, is honest as it gets and he just gets a touch on it with Tarky behind him and that’s just kept their lad onside, so we are disappointed with that.

“But generally we were solid, we kept the ball, we probed and asked questions and had a lot of possession for an away side in the Premier League, but we didn’t quite open the door and that’s been our challenge this season.”

He added: “I do believe in what we do because it’s proven over a long period.

“We have to work hard for our goals, but I totally believe in our centre forwards and the stats and facts prove why I have that belief.

“I do believe it will come, but we have to give them slightly better service at times and equally find that freedom to go and attack and find those pockets of spaces that forwards do.”

Dyche, whose side slipped to 17th in the league following a third defeat in four games, defiantly added: “It’s not my first rodeo!

“We’ve been down this road many times and you will recall that after eight games we had two points.

“So we are in pretty healthy shape considering that, after as really tough start. We’ve made a lot of good strides and good progress.

“We’re operating in the right manner and a lot of our defensive work has been good all season.

“It’s just finding those details in the final third is the key, and if we keep operating like that and get the details right, we’ll win games.”
