Sean Dyche he’ll take a victory in whatever form it comes in order for Burnley to get their first Premier League win on the board, as the Clarets were held to 0-0 draw against bottom-of-the-table Norwich City.
Burnley dominated large periods of the frantic encounter but were unable to find a breakthrough and now sit on three points after seven games heading into the second international break of the season.
The Clarets lie 18th in the top-flight table and Dyche, celebrating his milestone 400th game in charge at Turf Moor, will do whatever it takes as Burnley bid to clamber up the table heading into a key phase of the campaign.
The 50-year-old, who is the third longest-serving manager in the Football League, said: “Sometimes you need a scruffy one to get you off the mark.
“One of those things that can drop in the box and you score from – and that changes the mentality. There was a lot of good stuff and effective play but scoring a goal is a challenge at the moment.
“We’re so close but we’ve got to continue to at least perform how we are performing – but add in to that.
“I believe it will come because we have the players, I believe, of that quality.
“I think we limited them to very little and when we did actually have to defend, we defended well.
“But we need to affect the attacking side of things – that adds to the framework of the side and they’re the details that we’re having to work on.
“We’ve got to add to the quality going into their box but there are a lot of good signs from a defensive side of things.
“Now it’s about finding the quality and the detail to turn performances into wins.”
Both sides were searching for their first win of the Premier League season as Daniel Farke’s Canaries came into the contest with a miserable record of six defeats from six.
The visitors started the crunch clash brightly but it was soon all Burnley as Dyche’s men started to pepper the Norwich box.
Matej Vydra and Chris Wood proved a continual thorn in Norwich’s side but after being denied two potential penalties by referee Kevin Friend, the teams went into the break level.
Norwich grew into the game in the second half as Matthias Normann – their best player – skimmed the bar but after substitute Jay Rodriguez, Dwight McNeil and Matthew Lowton all missed chances, the Clarets were forced to settle for their third point of the season.
Dyche wants his players to develop a killer-instinct and the gaffer, whose side travel to high-flying Manchester City after the international break, added: “The belief in the way the players are playing is there – I think they showed that again today but we’ve got to find that cutting edge, quite obviously.

“We’ve shown over my years here we can be productive – and believe we will be again.
“We will find ways to score goals – we’ve got four very good strikers and they will find goals.
“We had a slow start last season and picked up quite strongly – we had a very strong middle and end – and it’s important we do that [again].”
