Sean Dyche was delighted to see his team selection reap dividends as goals from Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood helped the Clarets defeat Wolves at Turf Moor.
Barrnes, recalled to the starting 11 in place of Jay Rodriguez, headed home his first goal in over a year to set Burnley on their way, before Wood doubled the advantage in the second half.

A late Fabio Silva penalty set up a nervy finale, but the Clarets held on to extend their unbeaten run to four games and leap up to 16th in the table.
“I’m very pleased and I thought we deserved it,” said the Burnley boss.
“We found a nice balance between defending well and creating some really good chances. If I’m being hyper-critical I thought we could have made it more comfortable earlier, and it ended up being a nervy one.
But tonight, I think it would have been against the truth of the game if they’d got something,
“I mentioned before the game that the stats come back to you as a striker. If you are not scoring, the logic is the chances will start to come again and then it’s about taking them.
“I‘m pleased for both of them because we went for a change and Jay is unlucky because he’s worked hard for us.

“Sometimes you just have to change things and I just thought Barnesy was getting sharper. He did well tonight and Woody nicks a poachers’ goal, so I am really pleased for both of them.”
It’s now just one defeat in seven games for Dyche’s men, who lost Robbie Brady (hamstring) and Dwight McNeil (groin) to injury late on.
Both will be assessed in the coming days ahead of the trip to Leeds, on the 27th, which at least offers an extra day’s recovery.
But Dyche was delighted to again see his players underline their credentials by going into the Christmas period with three more points to the tally.

“The stats and facts of my eight years here suggest we are effective at what we do. We know we can’t dominate every week in this league and it’s hard to pick up points, but we’ve found a way of doing that,” said Dyche.
“Earlier in the season I did say that I felt the injuries were testing us. We had seven first team players – very important players – down and I always felt that when the squad got fitter, stronger, and injury free, we would start coming back together.
“Look, we still have loads of work in front of us, but the proof is in the performances we’ve been putting in lately.
“Wolves are a really good side, and this is a really important result.”
