The Clarets manager said: ““The club continues to evolve, both on and off the pitch, with its organisation and its viewpoint.
“Women’s football has been growing in the last few years. The American ideal of women’s football was in front of the curve.
“It was a more powerful force and with our owners now being American, I think there was a thirst from that and the club to continue moving forward, so I think it’s a good thing.
“It’s a terrific game shared by all, more so and more so. It should be all inclusive – sport.
“It’s getting that way and growing in the women’s game and our club is going to be part of that, moving forwards, so I’m definitely all for that.”
Burnley FC captain and goalkeeper Lauren Bracewell added: “I think it’s absolutely fantastic the club has taken the women’s team under their banner.
