Sean Dyche was delighted with his team’s reaction as they held away day specialists Leicester City to a “pleasing point” at Turf Moor.
The Clarets led early on through Matej Vydra’s first Premier League goal in more than a year, only for Kelechi Iheanacho to level up before half time.
And following a stunning display from visiting keeper Kasper Schmeichel, the Clarets were good value for a share of the spoils against a Foxes team with nine away wins on the road this season.
“I thought it was an excellent performance and reaction following a really tough day at Tottenham,” said Dyche, whose side lost 4-0 in London at the weekend.
“You can get greedy, which I often do, and we certainly created enough chances tonight.
“They have an away record that’s right up there with Manchester City, so you have to be careful, but their keeper was excellent and we’ve come away with a pleasing point against a very good side.”
Dyche - whose career tally as a Premier League manager reached the 250-point mark - added: “I thought throughout the game, particularly in the second half, we were on the front foot and it does paint a picture if their keeper was arguably man of the match.
“You have to defend well and I thought we did, but our approach play was much, much better today.
“The performance was important - and getting back to what we are about.”
Vydra pounced on a defensive mistake in the fourth minute to rifle home his fourth goal of the season.
However, Iheanacho expertly volleyed home Ndidi’s clever ball over the top to fire past Nick Pope as the interval loomed.
“It’s a poor goal and we come out of our slots too early, but the reaction to that at the start of the second half was really, really pleasing,” said Dyche, whose side hit the post through Ashley Westwood and was twice denied by Schmeichel from two Chris Wood efforts.
“The season and the challenges we are still having, through injuries, I ask a lot of these players, but we are still on a consistent level of points per game – obviously we’d have liked three tonight – but I still think that shows a lot of belief in where we are going.
“The injury situation is also beginning to soften, which is a good sign, and I thought Woody was excellent tonight, along with Vyds.
“There was a lot of good performances and I’m really pleased that we took the game on and tried to win it in the second half.”
