The town of Burnley welcomed Sarah, Duchess of York this week.
The Duchess made several visits on her trip to Lancashire, including a stop at Turf Moor where she was hosted by representatives from Burnley Football Club and Burnley FC in the Community.
During the visit, Burnley FC President Stuart Hunt outlined the vital role the Club plays in the community and the close links between the Club and community department.
Burnley FC in the Community Chief Executive Officer Helen Gurman also offered an insight into the organisation's work in the community. The charity delivers over 50 community projects locally, across areas including sport, education, welfare and inclusion.
In addition to this, the Club supports the charity's operation of facilities including the town centre foodbank, which the Duchess took a tour of later in the day.
Sarah, Duchess of York said: “I’m here to support an extraordinary organisation.
“What they do, is not just about football - it’s football, youth clubs, it’s sport! It’s about unity in the community and it’s about making change through giving respect and dignity to people."
Also, in attendance on the day, were representatives from interfaith organisation Building Bridges, the Club's chosen charity partner for the 2023/24 season.
“So, I thought of coming to Burnley to meet Burnley Football Club and to see the schools and to get to know them. It’s Building Bridges. It’s not about race, creed or colour or any other denomination. It’s multi faith. It’s about our future. It’s about respect and putting Burnley even more on the map as an example to the nation of change.”
