Sander Berge and Kirstie Levell swept the board at the player of the year awards, presented to them at the Burnley FC In The Community Charity Dinner tonight.
Midfielder Sander Berge was awarded both Burnley FC's Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season for the 2023/24 campaign following an impressive showing in his first year at Turf Moor.
Alongside Berge, Burnley FC Women's goalkeeper Kirstie Levell won the Player of the Season award and the Players' Player of the Season for Rebecca Sawiuk's side after a consistent debut season with the Clarets.
Berge has been a key cog in midfield in Vincent Kompany's side this season, starting 32 times out of a possible 34 across the Premier League campaign for Burnley.
The Player of the Season accolade was chosen by Clarets supporters across the globe via an online vote, whilst the Players' Player recognition was chosen by Berge's teammates.
After receiving the awards on Saturday evening, the Norwegian said: "This means a lot to me. Burnley is a fantastic football club. I love coming into work every single day and being part of such a special club with so many great people. They’re a fantastic group to be part of."
Paying respect to the fans who voted him for the Player Of The Season award he added: "The support has been amazing. It’s been special for me.
"The fans have been fantastic! For them to be there week in and week out and cheer for us. That’s what we do it for. We’re so thankful for them."
Levell also collected both awards in her first season at the club.
Playing 21 games in goal for the Clarets, where her eye-catching displays has seen Burnley concede the second least in the entire league this campaign.
The goalkeeper was named the Player of the Match in the Adobe FA Cup encounter with Birmingham City earlier this season and is part of the squad that recently lifted the Lancashire FA Women's Senior Cup.
Picking up the awards she thanked the club and staff for encouraging her to Burnley in the first place.
"I'm really happy and really appreciative for these awards! This is for everyone who believed in me and brought me to the club.
"The belief the club have put in me has taken me through the season and helped me perform at my highest level."
The team bring their season to a close against Derby County tomorrow (Sunday) at Turf Moor. The second time this season the women will have played at the stadium.
"It goes to show how much we’ve been backed and supported by the men’s team at this club. I can’t speak highly enough of them.
"For me it’s one club. That’s the most important thing. To play at the stadium, players thrive on situations like that. For some people that will be the biggest ground they’ve ever played at in their career. We want to play in front of fans like that every week!"
