Johann Berg Gudmundsson was frustrated a landmark day didn’t produce a positive result as he clocked up a double century.
Gudmundsson made the 200th league appearance of his career in English football in last Saturday’s Premier League opener.
Seven years on from him bow with Charlton Athletic, the Icelander also started his 100th game for the Clarets in all competitions.
But despite an impressive performance from the Clarets’ wingman, he couldn’t help Sean Dyche’s men build on a flying start to avoid a 2-1 defeat to Brighton as he broke the 200-game barrier.

“I didn’t know that, so that’s a nice thing. It would have been better if we had the won the game, obviously, but I am proud of that achievement. It’s a lot of games,” said Gudmundsson, who was the width of a post away from doubling the Clarets’ early lead and potentially putting the game out of the Seagulls’ reach.
“I think we played unbelievable football in the first half,” he added.
“We put them under a lot of pressure, got the first goal and should have got the second and that would have made it a much easier task for us.
“The second half wasn’t good enough from us. They changed a few things and were better than us in the second half, but I think we should have got something from the game.”
The Clarets hit the road for the first time when they go to Liverpool next Saturday.
And after some impressive away form last season – which included a 1-0 win at Anfield to end the defending champions’ 68-match unbeaten home run – they will be looking to travel well again.
“Every game in the Premier League is tough, especially against the big boys,” Gudmundsson – who almost scored another winner at Liverpool two seasons ago when he struck the bar late in a 1-1 draw – told Clarets Plus.
“But we know we have gone to Anfield and got a good result and we are going to try and do that again.”
