Burnley Football Club can today confirm the signing of central midfielder Frankie Deane, who has penned a one-year professional deal with the Club.
Deane, 17, departed Scottish Champions Celtic earlier this summer. Highly regarded north of the border, the youngster had come through the ranks with the Bhoys, first playing for them aged six, and signed his first professional contract while still in Scotland.
Motherwell-born, he appeared at U18 level for Celtic last season as well as featuring for their B-team in the Lowland league.
Deane also already has youth international caps under his belt, choosing to represent his heritage with the Republic of Ireland. The midfielder was called up to an U19 training camp last month with the Boys in Green.
He will now link up with the Clarets U21 squad for their 2022/23 campaign in the Professional Development League, and is delighted to become a Claret. Deane said: “It’s a massive pleasure for me to be joining Burnley, this is a big Club and one which I’m proud to now be a part of.
“Having spent the last month or so in and around the place, I’m just looking forward to getting going now, and having a good season.”
Deane is eligible for this game at Reading, kicking off at 14:00 (BST).
