Burnley Women are pleased to confirm the signing of Paris Dalton on a short-term contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Dalton joins the Clarets after four and a half years in America, where she studied and played football on a scholarship with the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
The midfielder grew up in Derby, playing local boys football until the age of 14 before being scouted for Birmingham City Women by former Lioness Emily Westwood.
She spent four years at the second city club, two in the Academy and two in the reserves.
During the latter half she would regularly train with the first team which featured players like Ellen White and Jess Carter, and she was called up to several England U18 squads.
Seeking a new challenge, she then moved stateside where she gained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and is now finishing a master’s degree in Educational Psychology online.
In America she competed against other universities in the Mountain West Conference, travelling the southwest of the country frequently in an intense two game per week schedule.
Having now returned to England, Dalton boasts Head Coach Rebecca Sawiuk’s midfield options in the final months of the season.
After sealing the deal at the Burnley Training Centre, Dalton said: “I’m really excited to be here – it’s a good squad that’s had a strong start to the season and is still pushing for promotion to the Championship.
“I can play defensively or box to box, and I like to get on the ball and play my passes.
"Game time is always earned, so I’m hoping to spend time with the team, train well and hopefully hold down a place in the team.”
Burnley’s Head of Women’s Football, Lola Ogunbote, expressed her excitement in welcoming Paris to the Club, praising her impressive background.
"Paris' time in America has not only developed her as a player but also as a person, making her a great addition to our team.
"She is confident on the ball and is tenacious in training, making her an exciting player to watch. I have no doubt she will have a positive impact on this team.”
Dalton will wear the number 76 shirt for the Clarets, in tribute to her mother’s birth year.
She is available for selection for this evening’s league game against AFC Fylde at the County Ground, Leyland. For more details about the fixture, including entry prices, please click HERE.
